Virus Oropouche como Modelo de Arbovirus

Resumen

Introducción: El Virus Oropouche, miembro del género Orthobunyavirus, representa un importante patógeno emergente en América Latina. Su capacidad para causar enfermedades febriles agudas, con posibles complicaciones neurológicas, junto con su potencial de reemergencia asociado a cambios ecológicos, lo convierten en un problema de salud pública creciente. Objetivo: Analizar críticamente al Virus Oropouche, integrando aspectos históricos, epidemiológicos, moleculares y clínicos. Métodos: Se realizó una revisión narrativa mediante búsqueda sistemática en PubMed, Web of Science, Google Académico y SciELO. Se incluyeron 38 artículos científicos (originales, revisiones y metaanálisis) publicados en inglés y español (2015-2025), excluyendo literatura gris y estudios sin revisión por pares. Conclusiones: Los estudios moleculares revelan un genoma tripartito de ARN con mecanismos de evasión inmune, pero persisten brechas en modelos animales y seguimiento clínico. Muestra una notable expansión geográfica desde su origen amazónico hacia áreas urbanas Su similitud clínica con otros arbovirus dificulta el diagnóstico, subestimando su impacto real. Su manejo requiere estrategias integradas que combinen vigilancia molecular, control vectorial innovador y fortalecimiento de capacidades diagnósticas, particularmente en zonas endémicas.
