Abstract

In recent decades the reports of high mortality have increased related to intestinal infections caused by Aeromonas spp, especially in immunocompromised patients. Some Microbiology  specialists say that it could be due to some existing knowledge about resistance patterns exhibiting these extraintestinal strains, which would prevent to establish a successful empirical treatment. Currently the involvement of these micro-organisms in a variety of human infections have been documented worldwide, which suggest a complex etiology that strains possess a variety of virulence factors.
