Abstract

Fournier gangrene is a potentially fatal necrotizing fasciitis that occurs as a result of a polybacterial infectious process that affects especially the perineum, genitals and perianal tissue. The case of a 46-year-old patient is reported. She was given a course of chemotherapy due to suffering from a nodular cutaneous scalp melanocarcinoma with cervical lymph node and pulmonary metastasis. One week after being administered the scheme she was diagnosed with Fournier gangrene in the soft parts of the perineum, the vulva and perianal tissue, starting about an ulcerative mucositis of the rectal mucosa associated with neutropenia due to cytostatics.
