Introduction: Class II malocclusion is one of the anomalies that affect facial aesthetics, which is why it is one of the most frequent in the Orthodontic Consultation. Objective: to design an integrated classification for patients with Class II malocclusion that allows efficient diagnosis and treatment.
Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional investigation with a mixed approach was carried out in the Department of Clinical Sciences of the Faculty of Stomatology of the University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara in the period between 2020 and 2023. We worked with a sample not probabilistic that was made up of seven experts to whom three surveys were administered. The number of experts was determined using criteria based on the binomial probability distribution. The competence of the experts was determined by the competence coefficient, which was calculated according to the expert's opinion about his level of knowledge about the problem and with the sources that allowed him to argue his criteria.
Results: the reviewed documentation provided valuable information and the specialists issued different criteria on the classification and diagnosis of Class II malocclusion. The experts established the invariable elements for their classification.
Conclusions: the classification of malocclusion was carried out based on a diagnostic taxonomy that included invariable elements in order to achieve more comprehensive and efficient attention to malocclusion.
