A cross sectional study aimed at characterizing the clinical and epidemiological behavior of squamous cell carcinoma and basal epithelioma was conducted at the José Ramón León Acosta Polyclinic during the period from April 2009 to March 2010. The universe consisted of the total cases seen in the Dermatology consulting room of this health institution, 241 patients, of whom 173 (71.8%) have basal epithelioma and 68 (28.2%) squamous cell carcinoma. The data were obtained from medical records, from the biopsy reports and the surveys conducted in the office. An archive of photographs before and after surgery was also available.Downloads
