Glomus jugulare. Apropos of a case
Keywords:
glomus jugulare, angiography, tomography, x-ray computedAbstract
Glomus tumors, chemodectomas or non chromaffin paragangliomas, emerge from glomus bodies which are tiny baro-receptor structures located in the middle ear, temporal bone and neighboring regions or within the jugular vein, which account for or help regulate oxygen pressure in the middle ear and mastoid. A case of white female 79-year-old patient, who presents a swelling in the lateral neck region showing a tumor mass, is reported. She underwent a computed tomography angiography and a filling lesion was observed in the left lateral neck region in relation to the glomus tumor of the jugular. It is suggested to correlate with a clinic approach and other complementary tests.Downloads
