A descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective study of infections caused by gram-negative non-fermenting bacteria isolated in samples from skin and soft tissue of patients hospitalized in the orthopedic and traumatology service of the Arnaldo Milian Castro Provincial University Hospital in the city of Santa Clara was conducted from January 2005 to December 2009. The objective was to know the place they occupied in the other bacterial groups, according to the frequency of isolation, and identify which non-fermenting gram-negative bacteria are more frequently isolated. The data were collected from of all isolates of microorganisms from samples of skin and soft tissue performed in the orthopedic trauma service and reflected in the microbiological registry book of the bacteriology laboratory of the institution. This formed the study population. The object of study was represented by those isolates that corresponded to non-fermenting gram-negative bacteria isolated in the same type of sample and service. It was concluded that non-fermenting bacteria, in the mentioned period, were isolated by an average of 26.74%, ranking third in the other bacterial groups, and Acinetobacter spp was the most isolated genre.Downloads
