Pharmacopuncture in Painful Shoulder Syndrome

Introduction: pain is the most feared and greatest concern of any disease that man has and it is the major cause of medical consultation. A more recent variant of Acupuncture is being introduced, which is based on the injection of certain substances into acupuncture points, a technique known as Pharmacopuncture. Objective: to determine the results of acupuncture treatment with Pharmacopuncture in patients with Pain Shoulder Syndrome at “Arnaldo Milián Castro” University Hospital of Villa Clara from November 2014 to April 2016. Method: an observational, descriptive, longitudinal and prospective study was carried out.The sample consisted of 36 patients with painful shoulder syndrome. Results: before treatment, 100% showed values above 5 on the numerically Graduate Visual Scale, which corresponds to moderate, severe and unbearable pain. Making the cut in the sixth session, 8 of them had been discharged and 42,8% of the patients had no pain. Regarding the functional balance, the activities of daily living that were analyzed; only 4 patients did not show clinical improvement. Conclusions: treatment with Pharmacopuncture had good results in patients with painful shoulder syndrome and in cases where pain elimination was not achieved; it was possible at least to get an improvement in the pain picture.Downloads
