Enfermedad de pequeños vasos en el sistema nervioso central

Resumen

La enfermedad cerebrovascular afecta las arterias cerebrales, ya sea por oclusión o ruptura. Tanto las arterias de mediano como de pequeño calibre pueden afectarse. La oclusión de pequeños vasos produce infarto lagunar y la rotura de estos pequeños vasos produce hemorragia intracerebral. En dependencia de la localización y tamaño de la lesión y la comorbilidad se observa un amplio rango de presentaciones clínicas, que conducen a diferentes pronósticos. La terapia se encamina fundamentalmente a evitar complicaciones y prevenir la recurrencia.
