Peer Review Process
Peer review helps the Editor and Editorial Board to decide which articles are most appropriate for publication in the journal, while assisting authors and the editor to improve the quality of published papers. Articles submitted to ''Acta Médica del Centro'' undergo a double-blind peer review process in which neither the reviewer nor the author has any data that would allow them to be identified, and special care is taken with the established ethical standards to avoid conflicts of interest (nevertheless, the journal accepts the openness of peer review). ''Acta Médica del Centro'' has the collaboration of external evaluators who are not part of its editorial team and who do not belong to the institution that sponsors it.
The responsible author of the correspondence will receive notification of receipt of the manuscript, with its identification number, which should be used from that moment on in the correspondence. Within two weeks, the Editorial Board will carry out the first review to determine the pertinence of the subject and whether the manuscript complies with the Publication Guidelines. In the case that the article presents essential deficiencies or does not deal with a topic of interest to the journal, it will be rejected; If the deficiencies are only of form, it will be returned to the author for correction before beginning the evaluation process. The date of receipt of the article will not begin to be counted until it is correctly received.
Afterwards, it is delivered to the reviewers, who will have four weeks to review it; their conclusions will be evaluated by the Editor, who will determine if the article is:
- Accepted
- Accepted with modifications
- Rejected
The observations and suggestions of the Editorial Board and reviewers will be sent to the responsible author, who should respond as soon as possible (maximum one month).
The receipt and registration of the manuscript is only the initial step in the editorial process for its selection and does not necessarily lead to its acceptance for publication. The final decision rests exclusively with the Editorial Board, which reserves the right to choose the articles to be published, as well as to make stylistic modifications respecting the original content.
The selection of the material proposed for publication is based on the degree of interest for the majority of professionals, scientific soundness, originality, timeliness, timeliness of information, seriousness in the treatment of the subject, writing and compliance with the rules of medical ethics.
