Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. Experience in Villa Clara
Keywords:
continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysisAbstract
One of the health problems with a major contribution to mortality and morbidity in developed and developing countries are noncommunicable diseases, among which chronic kidney disease is well identified. It may be secondary or the final common pathway of multiple etiologies with risk factors common to other noncommunicable diseases. The development of purification techniques has produced a greater effect on the time of survival of these patients. Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis is the most commonly used peritoneal dialysis modality; in it the dialysis treatment is performed manually. It is continuous because the abdominal cavity remains filled with liquid at all times, and it is ambulatory because it is performed in the patient's home. In December 2007, Cuba introduced the continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, and in December 2010 this treatment was implemented in Villa Clara.Downloads
