Introduction: living a traumatic event such as a child's illness transforms a person's life. Resilience allows man to overcome pain, to continue to live a full life and to prevent illness. Objective: to determine the level of resilience shown by mothers. Method: a quantitative descriptive study was carried out on mothers of children with hematological diseases between January 1 and December 1, 2018. Results: a total of 40 mothers between 18 and 60 years old were studied, the subgroup between 16 and 30 years old predominated. The predominant group was for mothers of patients with sickle-cell anaemia, followed by those who had children with hemophilia and acute leukemias. The analysis of the different parameters of the resilience test showed that the mothers of sickle-cell and hemophiliac patients had medium resilience, while those of patients with acute leukemias had low resilience. Conclusions: everyone has a series of innate coping resources, but it is also necessary to learn and develop new skills.Downloads
