Results:
the most popular contraceptive method was the intrauterine device (38.0%), there was a statistics significant association between use intrauterine device and the infection by Chlamydia trachomatis (X2=23.7 and ρ=0.01) in 32 patients (18.9%) were presented pelvic inflammatory disease and 34 (20.1%) had a tubal obstruction, it was found statistics significant association between the occurrence of sequelae and Chlamydia trachomatis infection (X2=17.8 and ρ=0.04), the organism most commonly associated was Mycoplasma hominis 14, 9.0%) in 124 patients (80.0%) and no pregnancy was achieved, only in 17 (11.0%) normal pregnancy was achieved.
Conclusions: Chlamydia trachomatis infection compromises female fertility due to tubal obstructive sequels with little chance of achieving pregnancy.
