Abstract

It was made a review of the clinical method, beginning with Hippocrates and the changes in its application in different historical moments, as well as different definitions; It is emphasized in its components and steps for implementation and the importance of appropriate questioning, physical examination and diagnosis to prevent the medical history and clinical errors, an important document for patient. The reasons for the current decline of this method due to the overvaluation of technology and the role of education in teaching by example and word of the clinical method are presented.
