Burkitt lymphoma in an immunocompetent adult patient with an unusual gynecological presentation

Abstract

Introduction: Burkitt lymphoma is an aggressive form of B-cell lymphoma that affects children and adults.
Case presentation: A 41-year-old female patient was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma with thickening of the left ovary and spontaneous abortion of the tumor mass as the clinical presentation at onset. The patient had a favorable clinical outcome in a short period of time with the chemotherapy administered.
Conclusions: This neoplasm is highly aggressive and confers a guarded prognosis to the patient, thus requiring timely diagnosis upon clinical suspicion.
