Abstract

Introduction: A renal abscess is a clinical condition characterized by the accumulation of purulent material within the renal parenchyma, although it can sometimes be perirenal and accumulate in another anatomical area.
Case presentation:
A 47-year-old female patient, a homemaker, with a history of stage I hypertension, presented 12 days prior to admission with a high fever with chills, burning during urination, vomiting, nausea, and lower back pain. She was diagnosed with a perirenal abscess, completed antibiotic treatment, and recovered satisfactorily.
Conclusions:
Despite advances in treatment, perirenal abscess remains an underestimated disease. Continuing medical education, the rational use of antibiotics, and multidisciplinary collaboration are key to reducing its morbidity and mortality. Future research should focus on early diagnostic biomarkers and strategies to address multidrug-resistant pathogens.
