A pilot clinical trial, controlled, randomized, and double-blind placebo, was conducted in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome and ankle sprain in the Department of Orthopedics of the Arnaldo Milian Castro Provincial University Hospital. The aim was to determine the effectiveness of treatment with Bach flower essences in these patients during the period from January to March 2011. The final sample was composed of 24 patients, 12 in each disease. The most notable result was the decrease in pain of patients in the study group after treatment. The average report of pain by visual analog scale decreased. The presence of numbness and sensitivity to temperature changes in the tunnel carpal also decreased in this group. In the ankle sprain, it was possible to distinguish the placebo treatment in the first two days of treatment concerning the presence of pain. It was concluded that the formula with flower essences showed its analgesic effectiveness when compared with placebo after treatment. Further improvements were also found in other clinical signs and symptoms.Downloads
