Abstract

Reviewing the literature and reflecting our scientific thought concerning the safety in anesthesiology and its impact on quality results in the context of anesthesiology services is the objective of this review. The current trend described in the literature is to consider security as a fundamental pillar in the continuous improvement of quality corresponding to the hospital care processes, among which anesthesiology is included. The new paradigm is heading the development of actions allowing the prevention of errors and with them the appearance of adverse events. Some considerations on the security vulnerabilities in anesthesia are described here.
