Disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis: report of a patient

The case of a 40-year-old female patient, with a history of previous good health, who was admitted with a clinical impression of pelvic abscessed tumor is presented. It is determined the existence of a right ovarian tumor through the surgical procedure, but in a state of torsion. A disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis was diagnosed. This disease has an unknown etiology, although it has been associated with certain diseases. It is a benign disease but some cases have been reported to have progressed to malignancy. It is a very rare disease and the first case was reported in 1952. To date, only 100 cases have been reported in the literature. Currently, with a 9-month history, the patient is asymptomatic with good general condition.Downloads
