Characterization of adolescents victims of sexual crimes evaluated in the psychiatric-forensic commission for children and adolescents

Introduction: crimes against the normal development of sexual relations during childhood and youth are characterized by being unpleasant and dehumanizing, as well as by the enormous psychosocial impact in childhood and adolescence due to the physical and psychological traumas they suffer. Objective: to characterize the adolescents victims of sexual crimes who were evaluated in the psychiatric-forensic-child commission of Villa Clara Province. Methods: an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted to characterize adolescent victims of sexual crimes from January 1st 2016 to December 31, 2017; the sample was made up of 77 teenagers. All the data was processed statistically and the information was presented in tables. Results: lewd abuse predominated, the age group between 13 and 15 years old and the female sex; 67 adolescents were of urban origin and 53 descended from a nuclear family; the harsh methods were the most used and the fact occurred only once in 79.2%; most of the perpetrators were known. Conclusions: the most frequent form in which the event was reported was direct and immediate and the testimony evaluation was reliable in a high number of adolescent victims of sexual crimes.Downloads
