Hoffman syndrome, hypothyroidism, myopathyAbstract
Introduction: Primary hypothyroidism is the most common thyroid disease. It presents with many clinical manifestations, including proximal symmetrical weakness and muscle hypertrophy, symptoms observed in only 10% of cases, making differential diagnosis vital.Patient information: A 53-year-old patient presented with progressive proximal muscle weakness, myalgia, bradylalia, and drowsiness. During her admission, she was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and hypothyroid myopathy as an adult presentation.
Conclusions: This case is a characteristic example of Hoffmann syndrome, presenting with an endocrine disorder caused by a deficiency of thyroid hormones in conjunction with the clinical picture demonstrating hypothyroidism.
