Nursing care in pressure injuries: a bibliometric analysis
Keywords:
pressure ulcer, decubitus ulcer, nursing care, prevention, bibliometric analysisAbstract
Introduction: pressure injuries represent a global health problem with clinical, economic, and quality-of-life impacts on patients, especially those with limited mobility. In nursing, their prevention and management are essential to reduce complications, improve patient safety, and optimize care. Objectives: to analyze scientific production on nursing care for pressure injuries, identify key authors, and identify trends in the literature using a bibliometric approach.
Methods: data collection from Scopus was used, and Bibliometrix and VOSviewer were used for bibliometric analysis, and Datawrapper was used to visualize the results. Additionally, Lotka's and Bradford's laws were applied to evaluate the productivity of authors and journals, allowing for a structured classification of production in this field.
Results: the results show a sustained increase in scientific production on pressure ulcers since the 1990s, driven by technological advances and preventive protocols. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia lead the research, with a predominant focus on nursing. Among the most influential journals, the International Wound Journal stands out for its contribution to the dissemination of knowledge.
Conclusions: the findings underscore the importance of nursing care and the need for international collaboration to strengthen preventive strategies and reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers globally.
