Armando Caballero López, a glory of Villa Clara medicine

Introduction: for several years, historical research has been conducted to provide evidence for future generations of the events and figures that represented the development of medicine and public health in the country. One of these representative figures in the development of revolutionary medicine in Villa Clara and Cuba is, without a doubt, the recently deceased Dr. Armando Caballero López.
Objective: to develop a life history of Dr. Armando Caballero López.
Methods: historical documentary and testimonial research was conducted. Theoretical and empirical methods, documentary analysis, and interviews were used with the subject, as well as with family members and colleagues. Methodological triangulation was carried out to arrive at integrative considerations.
Results: a life history of Dr. Armando Caballero López was developed that captures, in the most concrete way possible, his long political and professional career and his main contributions.
Conclusions: Dr. Armando Caballero López can be considered among the great figures of Cuban revolutionary medicine; his contributions to the scientific and professional development of medical sciences, and in particular to intensive care medicine, demonstrate this.
