Introduction: As populations grow older, the burden of non-communicable diseases increases. Objective: To determine the anatomopathological mortality due to cardiorespiratory causes in adults over 60 years of age. Method: An analytical and transversal development study was conducted in order to determine the direct causes of death in adults over 60 years of age. The study population consisted of patients who underwent a necropsy and met the criteria established for the study. Results: There was a prevalence of male patients, aged between 70 and 79 years, with cardiovascular history of hypertension, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, smoking and hypertension. As risk factors for respiratory infections, there was a predominance of gender, tobacco consumption, humidity and overcrowding. Retractions, tachypnea and expectoration were the results of the physical examination with the highest incidence. Conclusions: The incidence and lethality due to cardiorespiratory diseases increased with the age of the patient and with the presence of risk factors such as hypertension, gender, overcrowding and smoking. The main direct causes of death were acute respiratory infections associated with pneumonias and bronchitis.Downloads
