Resumen

Introducción: la resección endoscópica mucosa es una técnica útil en el tratamiento de la displasia y el carcinoma in situ asociado al esófago de Barrett que eleva la calidad del diagnóstico por la posibilidad de obtener una mayor muestra de tejido para estudio histológico, permite delimitar la presencia de lesión en los bordes y la invasión a planos profundos y favorecer la toma de decisión.
Objetivo: mostrar diferentes aspectos relacionados con la resección endoscópica mucosa para mejorar el conocimiento de los especialistas e intencionar su aplicación.
Métodos: la búsqueda de la información se realizó a través de PubMed y Google Académico. Se consultaron, fundamentalmente, revistas científicas de los últimos años contenidas en la base de datos Medline, otras de similar calidad pero que no son parte de Medline y algunas tesis.
Resultados: la enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico es el principal factor de riesgo del esófago de Barretten el que los síntomas pueden pasar desapercibidos.
Conclusiones: esta técnica es una herramienta fundamental en el tratamiento precoz de los cambios displásicos, suaplicación actuales poco difundida a pesar de que sus requerimientos técnicos son sencillos.
